Quick BBQ Sauce
There are so many ways to change up this basic sauce. Like your BBQ sauce spicy? Add 1 canned chipotle pepper, minced, plus some hot sauce or extra black pepper. Want it a little chunkier? Saute ½ cup finely chopped onion and ¼ cup finely chopped red bell pepper in 1 Tbsp. butter or veg oil until tender before adding the other ingredients. No tomato sauce on hand? Swap in ketchup!
Ingredients
- 1 8-oz. can tomato sauce
- 3 Tbsp. balsamic vinegar
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. honey, coconut sugar, or cane sugar
- 2 to 3 Tbsp. molasses
- 1 tsp. onion powder
- 1 tsp. smoked paprika
- ½ to 1 tsp. black pepper
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer 5 minutes or until thickened to desired consistency.
